Operation: Wildcats Give Back
DYBSA is an organization that fosters growth both on and off the field. Helping these young children understand what it means to show sportsmanship and civic pride is very important. Sportsmanship is critical to building our children and teaching fair play regardless of the game outcome. Handshakes at the completion of each game symbolizes this very meaning.
Off the field character building is as vital as “on the field” sportsmanship. Project Giving was our first project that fostered giving back to the community. We held a food drive for the month of November 2013 and helped feed seven families with food for the Thanksgiving holiday. Canned goods and other nonperishable items were collected at the park during the holiday tournament and later sorted and delivered to those families in need of a helping hand. This was the first of many projects slated to take place through DYBSA.
Project Give Back is another ongoing event at the park that has helped many families out with equipment needs. Project Give Back is a program whereby we take any usable baseball/softball equipment that your child outgrows and we make this equipment available to the public for other families to take based on their needs. This has helped many families that do not have the funds to go out and purchase things such as bats, gloves, helmets, etc.. In 2014, the girls softball team sold tea and lemonade to raise funds for North Miracle League and Alex's Cure for Cancer.
